Change is in the air
published: Monday | November 10, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THERE ARE certain legal developments taking place locally which says to me that Jamaica is finally beginning to move away from a situation where the 'big man' gets away with all manner of corruption. Recently, there seems to be a renewed thrust and gusto emanating from the office of the DPP. I cite the recent prosecutory actions of the DPP against a certain Operation PRIDE contract involving DanWills construction and the cops involved in the Braeton seven issue.

For too long, 'the small man' has had to bear the consequences of his actions while 'the big man' gets away free. Change seems to be in the air. The DPP must remain fearless in the execution of his duties so that the perception of the justice system being imbalanced will change. Justice for and against the poor must be the same as justice for and against the rich.

I am, etc.,
