Memory gems still work
published: Wednesday | November 12, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN A recent talk to principals, Dr. Aggrey Irons reminded us that old adages such as 'Heights by great men reached and kept...' are still meaningful and may be used to promote values among our young people. I have decided to use these 'memory gems' with my students.

I am therefore appealing to your readers to send me any of these that they can remember from their childhood. Whether they are in standard Jamaican English or in 'Jamaicanese', they will be gladly received.

They may be sent to my e-mail address, or to me at Holy Childhood High School, 9, Skibo Avenue, Kingston 10.

I am, etc.,

SISTER JAMES MARIE
