Poor drainage in Gregory Pk
published: Wednesday | November 12, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS now the rainy season and there is a recurring problem in our newly established city - the poor drainage system on the Christian Pen main road in Gregory Park, St. Catherine. The miniature trenches that have been dug to take away the water when it rains in my opinion serve no purpose at all since the water backs-up on the road and causes major flooding.

When this happens the vehicular traffic divert the roads in the Christian Meadows scheme which is now extremely damaged since it was not made for heavy traffic; the Christian Pen main road is likewise damaged because of this flooding. The 'drains' are somewhat maintained by the citizens association but what purpose does this serve if the water backs up on the road?

I am calling upon the right authorities to address this problem before something bad happens, and assisting with this problem will also be of vital importance to the communities' development.

I am, etc.,
