Apologise to Robertson
published: Monday | November 17, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PLEASE ALLOW me a few lines with regards to an article dated Friday november 14, 2003 entitled 'JLP rift widens: party squabbles over campaign financing'.

Shame on you, Mr. Seaga, why you always quick to speak and slow to think? You made a public statement concerning campaign funding of the recent deputy leaders election. You said on the Breakfast Club that you have substantial reason to believe that illegal money was used in Mr. Robertson's campaign. At 7 p.m. Friday, November 14, a day later Nationwide with Cliff Hughes issued a release of you stating that you have evidence which was incomplete, but what you have is enough to satisfy you that Mr. Robertson's campaign money was clean. Now shame on you Mr. Seaga. You should not have gone public in the first place without settling the matter in your party first.

Mr. Seaga, I recommend that you get wise, apologise to Mr. Robertson, the public and the party. Maybe you should resign and allow your integrity to remain with you while it lasts. You have disappointed me. I respect you a lot but I cannot allow you to do this because here you have young future leaders depending upon you for guidance. Is this what you are teaching them?

Mr. Seaga save your party and stop putting obstacles in the way for its rebuilding. Remember you are leaving soon so leave the party in good standing and let the changes continue.

I am, etc.,
