Charlene Robertson for deputy leader
published: Thursday | November 20, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I BEG to nominate Mrs. Charlene Robertson as a deputy leader of the JLP. Reason is that Mrs. Charlene Robertson in her scathing letter of rebuke put the final nail in Seaga's political coffin - as far as I am concerned.

In fact Mrs. Robertson is my champion in this fallout in the JLP. She stood up and let it all hang out with Seaga. Something many in the JLP failed to do for over thirty years.

Finally, it seems as if Mr. Edward Seaga is losing his clout/grip on power in the JLP. The delegates at the conference rightly showed their contempt for Mr. Seaga's statements and rejected his choice for Deputy Leader. His choice for deputy leader Miss Grange, was bitter in defeat.

In fact she vowed not to work with the newly elected leader Mr. Robertson and complained of being "knifed in the back" - and a given lot of 'Judas kisses'. Mr. Chang and Mr. Bartlett on the other hand were examples for all to follow. They were both gracious in victory and defeat respectively.

Realizing that his word no longer means much Mr. Seaga, - somehow - tries to save face and strike a more conciliatory tone. Too late, I say, time for a change. The JLP delegates should carry on with the process of change in the party and get rid of the final stumbling block. The sooner the better.

I am etc,
