The Editor Sir,
I have been following the internal struggles in the JLP with interest.
It is quite obvious that there is a faction trying to oust Eddie Seaga and replace him with Bruce Golding. I am curious to find out what is Bruce Golding's qualification to become the leader of the JLP, who could one day lead this country?
Norman Manley and Alexander Bustamante distinguished themselves in the independence movement. Michael Manley and Hugh Shearer had outstanding careers in the Trade Unions, Eddie Seaga played a significant role in promoting cultural development in Jamaica, including crafts and performing arts. PJ Patterson served in various Ministries with distinction rising to become the Deputy Prime Minister in the Michael Manley regimes of the 70's and early 80's. All these men had a body of work one could examine.
I can find no political achievement by Bruce that he was associated with during his 30 years in politics. Where can I find his resume? Mr Golding should make his resume available so we can judge him fairly.
I do not believe long service to your party should not be the only qualification for leadership.
I am, etc.,
