THE BALLROOM of the Knutsford Court Hotel recently sparkled with a combination of brilliance and gold as the top achievers in various science subjects in the May/June 2003 Caribbean Secondary Education Council (CSEC/CXC) collected their individual trophies and $5,000 book vouchers courtesy of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo).
This was done in collaboration with the Scientific Research Council (SRC).
JPSCo's involvement in this initiative comes as part of the company's contribution to the development of education in Jamaica. The company also aims to use this medium to challenge students to excel at the CSEC/CXC examinations annually.
"It is also our way of indicating to the top achievers that we appreciate their efforts and also to highlight that as a company we believe that excellence must be rewarded," said Maurice Reid, manager for community relations.

The students received their awards during the closing ceremony of the Scientific Research Council's 17th Annual National Conference on Science & Technology & Exposition 2003 held recently.
