Audley Boyd, Assistant Sport EditorWITH ALMOST nine months to go before its next congress, the St. Ann Football Association has been disbanded.
The move was triggered by the resignation of several elected officers of the association which is linked to a no-confidence motion passed by affiliates at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday night.
Consequently, all activities of the association have been suspended immediately and indefinitely, including matches that fall under the auspices of the St. Ann FA and its affiliates.
However, two teams in the parish have been exempted - Lewis Strikers and Syndicate who have been permitted to participate in the Eastern Confederation Super League.
INTERIM
In the interim, a committee headed by Raymond Grant, chairman of the Eastern Confederation, will manage the affairs of the St. Ann FA.
Speaking to The Gleaner last night, Grant confirmed receiving a letter of resignation from Constantine Cunningham, the St. Ann FA president, and added he was expecting similar documentation from treasurer Lenroy Hinds and assistant secretary Leonie Bailey later.
"Next week I'll advise as to the committee I've set up to manage until the extra-ordinary Congress," Grant said.
The other members of the dissolved administration were Neville Brown (first vice president, Maurice Walters (second vice president) and general secretary Conroy Brown.
The next Congress sitting of the St. Ann FA, constitutionally due every two years, was set to take place between July and August next year.
