Christianity
published: Sunday | November 30, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE never had any respect for that institution they call The Church and as to who is a Christian is beyond my comprehension. I am now beginning to think that Christianity is like love. It is, what it is, in the mind of the conceptualiser.

I find it amazing and sometimes amusing that at this stage of this aged philosophy they are now debating whether to go forward or backward. I hope you get my drift. Sexuality would certainly pre-date Christianity, so this basic issue is not a Johnny come lately issue.

If Christian leaders cannot find consensus on the question of homosexuality, then I would not trust them on any other issue.

The Anglican hierarchy were locked in at Lambeth, London, for five days to debate this issue and the only conclusion they could find is that this issue is going to split the church.

Maybe it is not such a bad conclusion.

I am etc.,
