Financial pressure
published: Sunday | November 30, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE CITIZENS of this country are coming under more financial pressure at an alarming rate without much explanation. People are aware of the fact that the exchange rate as far as the dollar and sterling are concerned, will cause increases and financial problems, especially among the less fortunate.

As dislocating as that can be, yet the people seem to have come to grips with that and are adjusting to this. But what is causing much concern is what the utility companies are up to. On our light bills and water bills, attached is a three-letter word 'PAM' which is always much higher than the water and light charges and when one enquires why is this so, the answer is always, "it has to be paid".

Mr. Editor, I don't believe the citizens deserve to be treated this way, without an explanation.

I am, etc.,

W.N. LEVY J.P.

St. Mary
