Criticism is necessary

THE EDITOR, Sir:
FROM TIME to time, the police come under high levels of criticism from the public, and justifiably so.
Police are in the eyes of the public 24 hours a day and a very high level of professionalism is expected of them at all times. Whenever the police fail to live up to expectations, they must be criticised, and this criticism should not be seen as bashing or in terms of like and dislike.
What the police should do is examine these criticisms and learn from them. The conduct of the police must be of the highest form of professionalism and beyond reproach.
The police should not be afraid or feel demotivated when they are criticised.
I am, etc.,
