By Audley Boyd, Assistant Sport EditorCRENSTON BOXHILL makes his first official tour as the chief representative of Jamaica's football when he jets off to Germany today for the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying draw in Frankfurt, Germany.
Boxhill, who deposed Captain Horace Burrell at JFF elections for the presidency two Sundays ago, leads a two-man team with Portland Football Association (PFA) president, Burchell Gibson.
The latter, who is being tipped to fill the JFF position of general secretary after the resignation of Horace Reid at the elections, is travelling in a role as advisor to the president.
The draw, to be done by the sport's world governors, FIFA, will be held tomorrow and Thursday for the regional qualification series that is set to begin in June next year.
At the completion of the event, Jamaica will know its first round opponents, which are normally from the Caribbean, as well as getting an indication of its likely challengers in the more crucial stages of the elimination series.
Boxhill told The Gleaner that he will "return the following Tuesday", adding that "...while returning from Germany we'll be looking to stop in London with a view to meet with some of our foreign-based players and well-wishers."
Most of Jamaica's senior football players represent clubs in England which are in the early part of their season.
Boxhill's fellow JFF executive, treasurer Carlton Barclay, added a bit more about the English stop.
Barclay said: "The London stop is an important part of the trip because they're going to meet with the players. And there are agents in London who represent several countries who have expressed a desire to meet us."
On his return, Boxhill said: "We'll be sitting with the technical director (Carl Brown) as soon as I get back. I want to see the plans we have to go into the World Cup qualifiers."
