UWI student gets church scholarship
published: Wednesday | December 3, 2003

KIMBERLY MARTIN was the successful recipient of the Father Ron Pieters Scholarship awarded by the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Fr. Pieters was assistant pastor of the Holy Cross Catholic Church from 1991 until he was murdered in 1993.

The $50,000 scholarship is awarded each year to a young person attending Holy Cross who is actively involved in church and community service.

It covers tuition fees for three years at an educational institution, but disbursement each year is dependent on a high level of performance by the recipient, the Brotherhood of Holy Cross said in a release.

Kimberly, 19, is currently studying international relations at the University of the West Indies and was successful in her first-year courses.
