Nervous about JLP
published: Thursday | December 4, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM deeply saddened and disappointed to read Audley Shaw's statements on constitutional reforms. I was overjoyed to learn that Bruce Golding was the new chairman of the JLP and is well positioned to take over the leadership from Mr. Seaga. However, the fact that Mr. Shaw has expressed his leadership ambitions with such strict adherence to the antiquated so-called democracy, which is nothing but an elected dictatorship, makes me very nervous.

It seems that Bruce is the only ray of hope for good, responsible, democratic government in Jamaica. I sincerely hope that the day will be soon when he gets the opportunity to implement the radical changes necessary to move Jamaica to a modern democracy that is befitting of a proud people.

I am, etc.,
