Political agenda
published: Thursday | December 4, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I REALLY wonder what aspirants to political power in political parties agendas are, having secured that power they craved for. A few evenings ago I was listening to interviews from some of the newly-elected power brokers in the Jamaica Labour Party on the Radio Jamaica "beyond the headlines" discussions. The new deputies in various areas of the party and the new general secretary were interviewed and the most vocal thing that they were saying is that the changes in the leadership needed to find a winnable combination to remove the People's National Party Government from power.

They spoke briefly of the Government's mismanagement of the economy which is very true, but nothing about how they are going to do things differently, and what they propose to do to make life better for the people on a whole.

I am suggesting that instead of only talking about gaining political power they should pool their energies and brains together and come up with workable plans to rescue our economy and curtail crime to make life more meaningful and safer for our people, if they really put people first.

I am, etc.,
