Chukka Cove kindness

THE EDITOR, Sir:
AFTER MANY days of beautiful sunshine and receding flooding here on the North Coast, the rain came down again Wednesday morning. It certainly made up for the days of absence as the torrential downpour went on for hours. As a result, there was serious flooding along the Salem-St. Ann's Bay highway. In some places, the water was knee deep.
Many motorists were taken aback by the water's depth as their motorcars stalled and left them stranded. This happened to two motorists outside the gates of Chukka Cove Adventure Tours. Having stalled on either side of the road, they abandoned their vehicles without so much as pushing them out of the way, causing the worst gridlock to be seen along that roadway in ages. It was at that point that the true meaning of kindness and true concern for others was exhibited by the guides and stable hands of Chukka Cove, who came out of their workplace, into the rain and began to direct the traffic one lane at a time until the cars were moving at a steady pace.
Up until that time, I had been stuck in the line for over an hour, worried that the car would shut off, watching a quickly descending gas needle and praying for something to happen. My rescuers were good men who couldn't stand and watch as a situation worsened, they instead came out to help. Thank you, everyone at Chukka Cove. Keep up the good work and continue to set a good example of brotherhood and Christian kindness.
I am, etc.,
