Operating outside the law
published: Saturday | December 6, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE ATTORNEY General A.J. Nicholson in recent times, commented that the Government had to pay out millions of dollars to citizens as a result of the police operating outside the law. He further stated that he would be seeking legislation that would cause the police to stand some of the cost when they operate outside the law.

A statement coming out of the police federation is that this would be tying the hands of the police, if this legislation were implemented.

If the hands of the police are not tied then they will be able to do any and everything and get away with it.

This legislation should be implemented with some urgency so that the police and the citizens can benefit.

I am, etc.,

CHARLES GORDON

Gregory Park P.O., St. Catherine
