
'Simple Truth' by John Campbell
IKEBANA EXHIBITION
TODAY IS the final day of the bi-annual exhibition and show of the Ohara Ikebana Chapter of Jamaica being held in the Bellisario Suite, Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston. The show opens at 10:00 a.m., with a demonstration by grand master Pearl Wright at 11:00 a.m.
CERAMIC EXHIBITION
THE MUTUAL Gallery and Art Centre, 2 Oxford Road, Kingston 5, presents "Mud and Fireman", an exhibition of ceramics by artist Walford Campbell. The show formally opens on December 9 at 7:00 p.m., with guest speaker Hon. Dr. Oswald Harding. Forty-three pieces will be on display, a combination of vases, plates, teapots, candlesticks and jars, as well as large free form ceramic sculptures.
ART AT STRAWBERRY HILL
SURREAL ARTISTS John Campbell and Audrey Lynch will present a three-day exhibition at the Strawberry Hill Resort in Irish Town. The show will officially open on December 11 (at 7:30 p.m.) and run through to December 14.
ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION
HARMONY HALL in Ocho Rios continues to host its 22nd anniversary exhibition featuring works by Jonna Brasch, Rani Carson, Cecil Cooper, Colin Garland, Christopher Gonzalez, Judy Ann MacMillan, Mazola, Gene Pearson, David Pinto, George Rodney, Jonathan Routh and P.J. Stewart and other artists. The exhibition will continue until December 27.
'Sentinel' at Grosvenor Galleries
"Sentinel", an exhibition of new works by sculptor David Pinto continues at Grosvenor Galleries, 1 Grosvenor Terrace, Kingston 8.
This show provides a fresh look at ceramics, revisiting ancient technology and inventing new animated forms. The show opened on Saturday, and will run for three weeks.
XMAS 'COMFORT AND JOY'
"COMFORT AND Joy" continues at the Revolution Gallery, 52 Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston 10. The annual Christmas show is scheduled to run until month end, in open house style. Viewing hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and, on Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
At the same time, a series of smaller exhibitions are scheduled to open in adjoining space at the gallery. These are exhibitions by artist Phyll Williams (December 3 to December 9), and Jackie Brown (December 12 to December 24). The public is invited to come in and browse for gift ideas.
'COLOURS, LINES AND TONES'
GALLERY PEGASUS at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, continues to host "Colours, Lines and Tones", an exhibition of painting and relief sculpture by Richard Atkinson (sculptor), Alphanso Blake (painter), and Lennox Coke (painter). The exhibition will run through to December 13.
OSMOND WATSON AT HI QO
HI QO Art and Framing Gallery, Shop 19, 1 St. Lucia Avenue in New Kingston is currently hosting an exhibition of selected works by renowned artist Osmond Watson. The works are retrospective in nature, illustrating the artist's spiritual and cultural expressions in oil and mixed media. The show is expected to run through to January 2004, when a second stage will be launched. Opening hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, and on, Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
KINGSTON EXHIBITION
THE MINI-EXHIBITION on Kingston continues at the offices of Grace, Kennedy and Company Limited, 73 Harbour Street in downtown Kingston, and will run for the next six months. The exhibition can be viewed during working hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), while tours can be arranged by appointment.
