Jamaica qualify for CONCACAF finals

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands, CMC:

JAMAICA ADVANCED to the final round of the CONCACAF Women's Olympic qualifiers Sunday when they defeated the Cayman Islands 1-0 in their second leg match at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

Venecia Reid's second half strike sealed the Jamaican 4-0 win on aggregate, after they had won the first leg match 3-0 on Friday night.

Reid, Omolyn Davis and Tashana Vincent had been the scorers on Friday night.

The Jamaicans will contest Group A of the finals in Costa Rica with the hosts, Canada and Guatemala.

Group B will have the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and either, Honduras or Nicaragua.

The two group winners will advance to the 2004 summer Olympics in Greece.
