PAY FOR one, get two free. That is seemingly the concept behind the new multi-level entertainment complex known as the Quad, as $600 will allow a patron to go on a party spree.
"You pay one admission and it allows you to go to all the clubs. The $600 gets you onto all the floors, one admission and you can go anywhere you want," confirmed Brian Chung, co-owner of the new entertainment venture.
The Quad, which is the 'brain-baby' of Brian Chung and Chris Cargill, is housed at 20-22 Trinidad Terrace, New Kingston, Kingston 5, and will open its doors to party enthusiasts this coming Friday.
On the ground level of the Quad will be a Jazz cafe simply dubbed Christopher's, which is said will boast an upscale decor, complete with lounge seating, a Baby Grand piano, live entertainment among other attractions. Christopher's will be open six days a week for lunch and dinner. On the nights that the other clubs are opened Christopher's will also run until the parties are over.
NORTH AMERICAN POP CLUB
Jump one flight of stairs to the second level and there you will find a club called O2 (Oxygen). This club will take the format of a North American pop club, as it will breathe high-energy dance music. It will open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Fridays and Saturdays will be the designated days when the high-energy North American styled club plays the Top 40 mixes.
Up another floor and patrons will be bewitched by Voo Doo, which is a Retro Lounge on the top floor. This club will also open its doors on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. On Fridays and Saturdays the club will feature 'seventies, 'eighties and 'nineties retro music only.
Chung told The Gleaner that Wednesdays at the Quad will be totally retro, as Retro Wednesdays that used to be at the Asylum will have a new abiding city at the Quad. "Our seventies, eighties night at the Asylum will no longer be there. We will be moving that whole retro concept to the Quad on Wednesday," revealed Chung.
Albeit, he was quick to point out that Wednesdays at Asylum will not remain naked, as a promotion will soon fill the slot that has been left vacant. Chung adamantly stated that patrons should not have the notion in their heads that the opening of the Quad means the closure of the Asylum. Not so at all, says Chung as he highlighted that both clubs will open up shop simultaneously.
The threat of competition was warded off by Chung who unwaveringly believes that competitive conflict will not be the cause of a rift in their little family of clubs. This he based on the fact that both clubs appeal to a different cross-section of the society. He argued that the Asylum will maintain its hardcore dancehall flava while the Quad will appeal to lovers of retro music and high-energy dance music of the North American pop persuasion. "The formatting of the music is all high energy in the Oxygen and it will be totally different from what you hear in the Asylum," explained Chung.
The fourth and final dimension of the Quad is the Red Carpet, which is a VIP Room. It shares level with Voo Doo but that's about it, as the one for three spree stops here. The Red Carpet will be open by special request, or invitation on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and for private functions upon request. Anyhow, it will not be opened until early next year.
DISTURBANCE
In order to club hop, patrons will have to use a staircase. Although the clubs are not sound-proof, Chung promises that the music from one club will not cause any disturbance in another.
With the inside covered The Gleaner questioned the efforts that have been directed to outside factors such as security and parking. "We have leased from KSAC their parking lot and another one two doors down from the Quad. We will be putting up sufficient lighting and security for the safety of the patrons and their vehicles," said Chung.
He also pointed out that security detail would line the sidewalks from the parking lot leading to the club, so as to ensure safe passage to the Quad.
