The EDITOR Sir:NEWTON AMOS last week highlighted Montego Bay's problem which I believe is largely the root of Jamaica's problem 'Corruption'. This has now crippled this beautiful island labelling it as a haven for brutal bandits operating above the law.
Comments were made which implicated members of society both high and low with people making a lucrative living from this feast of murder, drugs and extortion, and clearly describing Jamaica as an whole.
Lawmakers on the other hand have become pre-occupied with naked statues in parks and man having lots of women while crime continues to flourish in an environment saturated with corruption. The solution clearly rests in the hands of lawmakers. Stiffer penalties, campaigning and acting against corruption should be highlighted.
All the 'team players' human rights groups, churches, Jamaicans living in exile overseas, professional bodies and men on the streets should be a part of this initiative.
I am etc.
