Third trial match bowls off today
published: Wednesday | December 10, 2003

THE THIRD and penultimate Jamaica Cricket Association's (JCA) trial/practice match to help select the national team for the upcoming Carib Beer four-day regional tournament bowls off today at Melbourne Oval.

The four-day match is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. each day.

After missing the last match at Jamaica Broilers field, opening batsmen Brenton Parchment, Donovan Pagon and Shawn Findlay, along with allrounder David Bernard Jr. have returned from a West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) batting camp in Antigua.

However, Daren Powell who is playing professionally in South Africa, and Ricardo Powell, who now lives in Trinidad and Tobago, are yet to take part in any of the matches played so far.

Chairman of selectors Ruddy Williams said they will have to play in at least one match to be eligible for selection. Daren Powell is expected in the island on December 19 but no contact had been made with Ricardo Powell.

The Williams-led selection panel will have to submit a protected 13 players to the WICB by December 13, while the squad of 16 will be named on the December 21.
