Thank you, Rev Stewart
published: Friday | December 12, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WANT to thank Rev. Donald Stewart and Pastor Adegold for challenging Magician Kole's use of magic to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I would like to encourage Rev. Stewart with this story. When a Christian young man was told by his mother that you said no to this magic show, he tore up the flier and went away satisfied.

The church is often silent on issues and oftentimes seemingly naive. Thanks to your challenge we see clearly from Mr. Kole's own words that: (a) by challenging Rev. Stewart with $1,000,000.00, it is definitely 'Mammon' speaking; (b) after 40 years as a Christian it is unfortunate that Magician Kole has not yet read in the Scriptures that Satan gives supernatural powers.

From the fact that Mr. Kole is still a practising magician, it is clear that 2 Cor. 6:14 - 7:1, which tells believers to come out from them and be separate, has not yet changed Mr. Kole's lifestyle. In closing, I wish to add that there seems to be a dearth of wholesome entertainment in Christendom. I want to challenge churches to put their heads together to come up with ideas for more wholesome entertainment that would benefit not only the Church but all Jamaicans.

I am, etc.,
