Donald Buchanan, Minister of Water and Housing, presents Orchid Gordon with her Certificate of Title which gives her legal ownership of a lot of land in the Luana Operation PRIDE development.

SOME 92 MEMBERS of the Luana Development Committee have been presented with their Certificates of Title, making them legitimate landowners.

The Luana scheme is located just outside Black River on 88 acres of land.

The housing estate comprising over 1000 lots of sizes approximating 4,000 to 9,000 square feet provided for residential, industrial and agricultural purposes.

The beneficiaries, all members of the provident society, include teachers, policemen, nurses, firemen and postal employees.

TRANSFER POLICY

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Water and Housing Minister, Donald Buchanan, in whose constituency of South West St. Elizabeth, the project is located, noted that having delivered the promised 30,000 lots under the programme last year to beneficiaries, the Ministry and the National Housing Develo-pment Corporation (NHDC) were now in the final stages of the land transfer policy, that of delivery of Certificates of Titles.

"Up to October 2002, NHDC has delivered 30,010 lots of land by way of Certificates of Posses-sion to persons in Operation PRIDE communities and developments island-wide who have met all their obligations under the Programme," said the Minister.

"Residents who have met their obligations will now become eligible to receive Certificates of Title in this current phase of Operation PRIDE."
