Let justice be served
published: Sunday | December 21, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM writing in response to a letter from Mr. Baldwin Collins published on Monday, December 15 that pertained to Lee Boyd Malvo. Mr. Collins indicated that Malvo should be punished for his crimes but not given the death penalty.

I would like to ask the following question: How does one tell the family members of the victims that the person who killed their family member should be punished but not given the full punishment allowed by the law and had the audacity to laugh and boast about it to police officials after being detained?

I believe he was influenced yes, but he knew what he was doing and the time has come for him to pay the price and he should be given the very same justice as was granted to his partner in crime. They both committed the crimes and both should pay the price. That will at least serve some level of justice for the victims' families.

I am etc.,
