ONE OF four men who allegedly staged a
robbery on a passenger bus, was fatally shot on Slipe Road in Kingston on Friday. Two other persons were injured in the incident.
The dead man has been identified as Damion Davis whose age and address have not yet been ascertained.
According to reports from the CCN's Metro Officer, about 7:00 p.m., four men posing as passengers were aboard a bus registered 3690 PP, which plies the Lawrence Tavern to Kingston route. On reaching Slipe Road the men pulled guns and proceeded to rob fellow passengers of cash and items of jewellery.
The men were in the process of robbing a policeman when he pulled his weapon and, during an ensuing shootout, one of the robbers was hit. Two passengers were also injured during the crossfire.
The three injured persons were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where Davis was pronounced dead and the passengers admitted in stable condition.
The Cross Roads Police who are investigating, have launched a search for the other robbers who escaped on foot in the area.
MAN DIES IN HOSPITAL
A MAN died in the Falmouth Hospital yesterday from injuries sustained when a Toyota Hiace bus crashed into a bar in which he was a patron at Long Bay main road, St. James, on Thursday.
He has been identified as Clive O'Reggio, 48, insurance assessor of Wiltshire, Trelawny. Facing a charge of manslaughter is the driver of the bus, David Williams, 45, of Dumfries district, St. James.
The CCN's Trelawny Liaison Officer reported that about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Hiace bus, registered 8592 BY, was travelling along the Long Bay main road when Williams lost control of the vehicle which ran off the road. The bus hit a Suzuki Baleno motor car registered 0849 DU, which was parked nearby then crashed into the bar, hitting Mr. O'Reggio. He sustained injuries and was taken to the Falmouth Hospital where
he died whilst undergoing
treatment.
PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
A FEMALE pedestrian was killed after she was hit by a car on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston, on Friday.
She has been identified only as "Natalie", about 24 years old of Fifth Street, Greenwich Town, Kingston 13.
Reports from the CCN's Metro Officer are that about 5:00 a.m., a Chevrolet pick-up registered 2427 DW was travelling along Marcus Garvey Drive. Natalie, who was walking on the sidewalk reportedly stumbled, lost her balance and fell in the path of the vehicle. She sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
