THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM not impressed with the way in which the National Water Commission (NWC) operates. They say "water is life don't waste it call NWC".
I write to report a situation in the Iron River communities in West Rural St. Andrew where the water has been running for two full weeks now. A busted pipe is allowing gallons of water to flow onto an already dilapidated road, thus causing more problems for the community.
The water main is broken and we reported it to the Stony Hill section of the Water Commis-sion and the workers came after a few days and fixed the pipe. Immediately after they left the pipe broke again due to the water pressure, we have reported it again and no one has come back to address the situation. Part of that section of the road has a major landslide at present which was due to the recent rains in that area (still awaiting clean-up) and I see where it will soon have another major landslide due to the gallons, if not tons of water now running on the road. I am not amazed by what is happening but I am frustrated.
I write to you to see how best our concerns can be addressed and so that those who represent us can see and remember us through this medium since we are not able to get them directly.
I am, etc.,
