Top meeting planners eye Half Moon
published: Wednesday | December 24, 2003

TWO INFLUENTIAL groups of United States-based meeting and incentive planners have just completed a fact-finding mission on Half Moon Hotel in Montego Bay.

The delegates, who came to scout the resort's recent US$8 million refurbishing project and expanded meeting facilities, included meeting and incentive planners from such influential houses as Carlson Marketing Group, a division of Carlson Companies, one of the largest privately owned companies in the U.S. with revenues in excess of US$320 million.

POWERHOUSE

While attracting the attention of powerhouse meeting brokers in the U.S., Canada and Europe, Half Moon has also increased business from the Caribbean region reporting a jump of over 10 per cent in Caribbean traffic. With over 35,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, which includes a 12,000 sq. ft. ballroom, a 4,600 sq. ft. conference centre, and 15 function, meeting and break out rooms totalling over 18,000 sq. ft., Half Moon has earned the reputation as the ideal meeting and incentive centre attracting Fortune 500 companies and Caribbean companies.

"Half Moon is designed to meet the demands of groups. With our varied complement of meeting rooms and conference facilities, we are able to host functions with over 1,200 delegates or with 10 participants providing personalised attention and service, while still catering to the needs of our leisure vacationers," said Myrtle Dwyer, Half Moon's director of sales.

Soon to unveil its new wing of 68 spacious beachfront rooms and suites, Half Moon Montego Bay features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by World Golf Hall of Fame designer Robert Trent Jones Sr.
