I WRITE in response to Ms. Dorothea Whitehorne's 'Letter of the Day' in the Gleaner's December 18 issue. Firstly, it is important to mention that the Sandal's Resorts Company does not have any discrimination policy. Rather, our focus is on niche marketing. Sandals offers four separate resort brand experiences, each designed to cater to the needs and desires of a specific niche market. This includes individuals, couples, families or group of friends. Sandals Resorts International prides itself in creating an all-inclusive experience around these individual needs and amenities.
Sandals Resorts is in fact designed specifically for heterosexual couples seeking romance whether it be for a wedding, honeymoon or getaway. Sandals Resorts offers amenities ideal for this niche of vacationer. That is why, for example, the resort would not accept a mother and daughter or two sisters regardless of their sexual orientation. It should be noted that Sandals is not the only resort product in Jamaica that caters exclusively to heterosexual couples.
