THE JAMAICA Football Federation (JFF) has summoned 24 players for an Under-23 training camp beginning this Sunday at the team's players' residence at Shortwood Road.
The National Under-23 squad is one of eight teams in the CONCACAF region competing in the final round of the Olympic qualifying games which begin on February 2 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago round out Group B and Canada, Honduras, Panama and United States will play in Group A.
Jamaica will continue their bid for the summer Games in Athens, Greece when they face Costa Rica on February 2 followed by Mexico on February 4 and Trinidad and Tobago on February 6.
Shavar Thomas of Dallas Burn in the US Major League Soccer (MLS) is the only overseas-based player in the 24-man squad. Joining him will be Alex Thomas, Keith Kelly and Wayne Ellis of Arnett Gardens, Jacomena Barrett, Tyrone Sawyers, Carlington Smith, Maurice Evans and Woolry Wolfe of Portmore United, Garfield Reid and Allien Whittaker of Rivoli, Christopher Harvey, Luton Shelton and Lovell Palmer of Harbour View, Roland Dean and Lenworth Hyde Jnr. of Tivoli, Demar Phillips, Weston Forrest and Desmond Breakenridge of Waterhouse, Richard McCallum of Invaders, Damion Williams of Seba, Fabian Dawkins of Village, Marlon Bennett of Constant Spring and Khari Stephenson of Real Mona.
