JAMAICA-BORN forward Jeff Cunningham is in a 30-man US squad for training camp starting early next month as the Americans continue preparation for the 2006 World Cup qualifiers.
Cunningham, who plays for the Columbus Crew in US Major League Soccer (MLS), is one of 27 MLS players invited by national coach Bruce Arena for a training camp beginning on January 4 at the National Training Centre in Carson, California.
Wade Barrett, who plays in Denmark, Germany-based Cory Gibbs, and Robbie Russell, from FC Sogndal in Norway, are the only foreign-based players in the squad.
After posting a 10-4-2 record in 2003, which included a third-place finish at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the United States will embark on their CONCACAF World Cup qualifying series on June 13, 2004, against the winner of the home-and-away series between Grenada and Guyana, with their first match scheduled to be played in the United States.
