Stop behaving like 'lumpens'
published: Tuesday | December 30, 2003

The EDITOR, SIR:

AFTER SUCH a great year internationally from some of our reggae artistes...Sean Paul, Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, Burning Spear et al, I am quite disheartened to know that there are some people who cannot for once in their lives deal with Progress.

It is high time somebody tell these artists who insist on behaving like lumpens that when they are on stage they are representing a country that boasts one of the richest traditions in culture and they are also jeopardising their own future. The show "Sting" dubbed the greatest show on earth should look at its line-up for the upcoming years and see if they are going to continue to promote the 'hooliganism' of some of our weak acts in the entertainment industry.

The managers of these artists must be in a coma somewhere far from earth..."tell your artists to behave like civilised people". Who and what are we going to be exporting. The patrons who equally misbehaved...you too are part of the problem. Let's clean up our act, guys!

I am etc.,
