Public should boycott
published: Thursday | January 1, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ONCE AGAIN, a small number of individuals have been successful in destroying the fun for an entire group. Sting is supposed to be a good time for everyone attending, to see and hear their artiste. The fun has been taken away from this event, by a small group of individuals (i.e. artistes and promoters). These people should equally share the blame for the demise of Sting 2004.

The artistes and promoters have to take the 'clashing/warring' to their homes. The people are paying their money to hear music, not to see grown men and women arguing and fighting. This sort of behaviour is disgraceful and the individuals involved should be 'banned' from appearing at future Stings.

When certain artistes behave in a disgraceful manner, they're showing total disregard for their careers and the paying public. The public has to boycott certain artistes and certain promoters, to show that disrespect will not be tolerated; and they need to get their acts together, when it comes to the paying public. In addition to banning certain artistes, the promoters should consider banning alcohol at future stings.

I am, etc.,

CHRIS BAIRD
