THE YEAR 2003 left us in a blaze Wednesday night and the place that blazed the most was 9 Montgomery Road, Stony Hill, St. Andrew.
Security mogul Kenny Benjamin threw what can only be described as the best party on the biggest party of any year, New Year's Eve. The liquor flowed, the music pulsated through your veins and the vibe was just perfect. You could feel the excitement from as early as the shuttle ride up to the house. After two dapperly dressed ushers whisked you from the vehicle, you were escorted to what was a towering site.
Turns out our friend Kenny did some construction work on his already flawless mansion. The new addition, which hovers over the greenhouse, was the site for the dance floor and the guests made good use of it. The disc jockey was like an octopus, his many arms reaching for hits from as far back as the 60s, soca, disco, modern rock; anything he could reach for that he thought the crowd would like.
As the clock hands swung around to the beloved midnight, more persons flocked to the dance floor and at the sounding of the "3..2..1", Benjamin himself released the balloons to signal the arrival of 2004. But the party was not finished; not in the least. In fact, it seemed the crowd got larger after midnight. Everybody had to say they were at Kenny's party, for at least a part of the night.
