JAMAICA-BORN West Indies batsman Ricardo Powell takes his final shot for selection on Trinidad & Tobago's Carib Beer squad when he turns out for the North team against the South in today's Pizza Hut/Gerry Gomez Memorial Classic at Queen's Park Oval.
The match, which attained first-class status in 1959, will be played over three days after which Trinidad & Tobago's squad for the first Carib Beer match against Leeward Islands at Guaracara Park will be named.
The 25-year-old Powell, a former Holmwood Technical student, was given the all-clear by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to represent Trinidad & Tobago in the upcoming Carib Beer series after he had written to the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) stating his desire to represent the twin-island republic in first-class regional tournament.
Defending champions North will be led by Imran Jan, while the South team will be captained by hard-hitting batsman Shazam Babwah.
