Stretching a helping hand
published: Saturday | January 3, 2004
THE EDITOR, Sir:I AM a Jamaican living in the British Virgin Islands and would like to assist some needy families living in Jamaica with some groceries on a regular basis, especially families with small children. I know that it may be difficult to judge 'genuine' cases, but with the help of some of my family members living there, I will try.
It is my desire that other persons living abroad will try and do likewise, to help even in some small way, since alone I can do so little, but together we can do so much. Persons can write to me at the address below, submitting their full name, mailing address, a contact telephone number and a photograph of themselves and/or family. While I cannot guarantee that all who write will receive assistance, some will be helped after their positions have been verified.
I am, etc.,
