Morally wrong and degrading

THE EDITOR, Sir:IN RESPONSE to the letter 'The Canada experience' I will also share my views. I must endorse what Mr. Chin has to say about the culture shock which one may not be prepared for in a foreign culture. But can we look at it from another perspective please?
We are all human beings and no matter where we come from or what we look like we are expecting to be treated in a humane way. Let's draw an example here. Do most of these people in these foreign cultures shout expletives to their pets? No! so why in the name of so-called 'opportunity' must this young man accept such derogatory treatment?
I have been living in a foreign country for five years and I have gone through the worst of discrimination and racism; but each time, there is where my pride breaks loose. I have never accepted such behaviours... they are morally wrong and degrading. And to tell you the truth because of my protest, on some occasions I have earned well deserved respect from the perpetrators. I have adapted beautifully, and have accomplished a lot without for one moment accepting any inhumane treatment.
I am, etc.,
