A grand waste
published: Saturday | January 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I VISITED two commercial banks to open first-time accounts recently and to my amazement I needed two written references from either a pastor, gazetted police officer, lawyer, bank manager etc. to open this account. So is not my valid I.D. and T.R.N. number enough?

I think this is just a grand waste of time for people who want to invest their well earned money.

I opened a bank account in the U.S.A. with only my valid I.D. and social security number.

I am, etc.,
