Falmouth Hospital gets make-over
published: Saturday | January 3, 2004

FOUR WARDS at the Falmouth Hospital in Trelawny have been refurbished at a cost of some $200,000, through the parish's Returning Residents Association.

President of the association, Estella Grant, says the funds and materials for the work were provided by persons in England, friends of the hospital, Sherwin Williams Ltd., and members of the association.

VOLUNTEERED

The hospital staff and members of the association volunteered for three days to work on the wards to ensure that they were habitable, JIS News reports.

"As part of the contribution, we received some $76,000 from friends in England, Sherwin Williams gave us 10 tins of paint, and we received some $40,000 from friends of the hospital," Mrs. Grant said.

With the additional funds provided by the association, "we were able to purchase 63 tins of paint, and 600 yards of material to make curtains for the wards," she said.

The association has also approached the team working on the North Coast Highway for some assistance in filling the potholes on the road leading to the hospital, Mrs. Grant said.
