Bedward: A wonderful treat
published: Tuesday | January 6, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY ALLOW me the opportunity to thank the playwright and cast of 'Bedward' for giving my friends and I such a wonderful treat at the Ward Theatre on Christmas morning.

The play was remarkable especially from the standpoint of its more than 90 per cent historical accuracy, as stated in the programme. It was interesting to note too, that the 'Dip dem Bedward' song was really coined by those who sought to mock the Bedwardites back then.

I think this historical play, a part of our own culture, should be recommended to students at all levels, and in fact, to the public in general.

I will definitely be going back for a 'second helping' of this entertaining and fascinating masterpiece.

Thanks again to Louis Marriott and his cast for making Christmas 2003 a treasured one.

I am, etc.,

JOY BROWN
