By LeVaughn Flynn, Staff ReporterJETSETTERS A and Omega A booked their places in the quarter-finals of the JNA/JNBS Open League netball competition with wins over Police A and SPEG A respectively at the Leila Robinson courts yesterday.
Jetsetters and Police join Jamalco, Molynes United A, Tivoli A, Seneca A, Waulgrovians and Windalco in the quarter-finals which begin on Saturday.
Jetsetters out-hustled Police on their way to a 25-21 victory with sharp passes and excellent movement.
Jetsetters' coach, C. Lloyd Williams, said their opponents came out strong but they were prepared.
"Police gave us a good fight and we were expecting that," he said. "So we made one simple change which worked well for us. The shooter which started on Saturday did not start today so it affected their rhythm and their plans for defending us," he said.
Walker also commended his defence.
"The usual Jetsetters game is a strong attacking force. We believe that the best means of defence is to attack."
Police's assistant coach, Audrey Hill, said turnovers plagued her team.
"Jetsetters capitalised on our mistakes. We came back in the end but it wasn't enough," she said.
The Omega and SPEG game turned out to be the more exciting encounter and crowd favourite Omega did not disappoint with a 21-15 win.
Omega's coach, Chris Campbell, said his "midcourt was strong which enabled the team to distribute the ball effectively up front".
