Jan 23 deadline to pay for illicit signs in St Ann
published: Thursday | January 8, 2004

By Leslie McLean

Claremont:

BUSINESS OPERATORS in St. Ann who have installed illegal signs as a means of promotion will have them removed if they do not make payments to the St. Ann Parish Council by Friday, January 23.

This was revealed by Mayor of St. Ann's Bay, Councillor Delroy Giscombe, during an interview with The Gleaner.

According to the Mayor these operators were informed from October 2003 that they should make the necessary payments to the Parish Council, with cost dependent on the size of the sign.

He said that to date the compliance rate was roughly 60 per cent and there would be no extension on January 23, as three months was adequate time for those operating contrary to the law to comply.

He pointed out that a demolition crew would be in operation on that date, starting from the White River bridge at the St. Ann/St. Mary border.
