DR. FENTON Ferguson, Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport and Works, has admitted that work on four roads in St. Elizabeth has been stalled due to problems being experienced by the contractors.
The roads are being repaired under the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) flood damage programme at a cost of some $210 million.
They are the Lacovia to Vauxhall, Vauxhall to Union, Wilton to Union and YS to Maggotty roads in north west and north east St. Elizabeth.
Dr. Ferguson was speaking at a recent ceremony for the handing over of certificates to contractors for road work completed in the parish.
"Some 11 roadways have been rehabilitated in the town of Black River under the urban/rural township rehabilitation and maintenance programme at a cost of $42 million." Dr. Ferguson said.
The Junior Minister also noted that routine maintenance activities are under way on 59 road sections in the parish. These are being maintained at a cost of roughly $15.6 million.
