JC meet record for McKenzie

EDWIN ALLEN'S Lorian McKenzie erased the 3,000m Open record at yesterday's WATA/Jamaica College (JC) Invitational track and field meet at the school's grounds.

On her way to victory, McKenzie upset favourite Tamika Thomas of Tacius Golding to win in 10:57.2. Thomas (11:05.0), who dominated the 5K and 10K on the road race calendar last season, finished second with Jessica McLeod (11:19.0) of Edwin Allen coming third.

COLE WINS 400M

Nyoka Cole of Holmwood won the Under-18 400m in 58.1, Sherene Pinnock (59.2) of Edwin Allen took the 15-16 section and Bobbi-Gaye Wilkins (59.8), also of Holmwood, won in the 13-14 class.

Terri-Ann Grant (1.50m) of Immaculate Conception took the girls' Under-12 high jump, Janet Nevins (1.55m) won in the 13-14 section. The boys' Under-15 discus went to Shariff Small of JC (43.48m) ahead of Kemar Hyatt of St. Jago (40.44m) and Ramone Birch of JC (40.15).

Andrene Miller of Holmwood (15.9) took the Under-18 100m hurdles ahead of her teammate Paula Mullings (16.4). The 17-18 section went to Holmwood's Tracey-Ann Rowe (14.6), while in the 15-16 category St. Andrew's Latoya Heath (14.7) took top honours.

Lorne Campbell of Herbert Morrison (14.5) won the Under-18 110m hurdles. JC's Romain Gordon (14.6) took the 14-15 section, while Andre Peart of KC (14.3) won the 100m hurdles in the 13-14 category and Bryan Earlsen (12.7) of Morant Bay came away victorious in the Under-12 80m hurdle event.

Marvia Lewin of Edwin Allen (2:27.3) won the 13-14 girls' 800m, while JC's Alexander Howell (2:24.8) took the boys' Under-12 section and Calabar's Sean Robinson (2:13.0) topped the 13-14 division.
