Bob Marley on Mars
published: Tuesday | January 13, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT WAS with extreme pride when I learned that the choice of music mission control in Pasedena, California used while they tried to get the wheels of the Mars Rover 'Spirit' up and going, was none other than Bob Marley's, 'Get UP, Stand Up', as reported by the BBC this week.

That just goes to show how Bob Marley's music and message continue to defy time and space. Just think, they could have chosen a Beatle or Sting hit but no, it just had to be the incomparable Bob Marley.

I am, etc.,
