A country in disaster
published: Tuesday | January 13, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE COUNTRY'S economy is in deep trouble, our education system is admittedly in a disastrous state; the country cannot feed itself, we are overwhelmed by crime, violence and unemployment; and in the midst of this, the government is asking for a new parliament building because they find Gordon House inadequate for their meetings.

Jamaica does not need a new parliament building. We need a new and smaller Parliament; and one that does more than say yes to what the executive decides at Jamaica House.

I am, etc.,
