TOP TEAMS will continue to jostle for positions this afternoon as the final set of matches in the first round of the Fred Smith Western Confederation Super League football competition gets under way with games starting at 3:00 p.m.
Leaders Mount Salem, Tomorrow's People and Orange Hill along with Flames, Petersfield and Altobar will all be seeking wins.
None of the teams can book a place in the next round today, however, a number of rescheduled matches will have to be completed after rains affected the early part of the competition.
Mount Salem, which lead on 20 points from nine games, will play away to 11th placed Russia in Westmoreland and will be hoping to stay ahead of second placed Tomorrow's People who are two points adrift and playing away to 10th placed Studs.
BAD TEMPERED
Studs could prove to be a handful however after scoring the only win in last Saturday's round of matches, edging Russia 1-0 in Westmoreland. Mount Salem will be without two players, Omar Kerr and Carlos Ricketts, however, as they were two of the three players sent off in a bruising and bad tempered 0-0 draw with Wadadah on Saturday.
Third placed Orange Hill on 14 points will play away to seventh place Flames who have five games in hand and an outside shot of taking a place in the mid-season finals if they win all their remaining games.
Petersfield and Granville are tied on 13 points and will be at home to Wadadah and Altobar respectively.
Wadadah will be without Fitzroy Reid who was sent off against Mt. Salem and needs to start winning to lift themselves out of the bottom half of the tables. Wadadah will also play the rest of the season without national Under 23 player Lacon Brisset who was sent on loan to Seba United last week. They must win all their remaining games to have any chance of going to the mid-season final.
In one other game, Bamboo will meet Harmony in Hanover.
Meanwhile the rescheduled games are set to start on Thursday when Wadadah faces Studs at the UDC field.

Ocho Rios:
PRESIDENT OF the St. Ann Referees Association, Donald Beckford, is now the new president of the St. Ann Football Association following his victory on Sunday over former president Marvin Tate.
The election of officers, which was conducted by officials of the Jamaica Football Federation's (JFF) Eastern Confederation at the Marcus Garvey Technical High School in St. Ann saw Beckford gaining 37 of the 68 votes cast with Tate securing the other 31 votes.
Another former St. Ann FA President, Dr. Aston Marsh, won the post of first prize president over challenger Everton Stewart after some members of Tate's team decided to withdraw their candidacy.
Dr. Rohan Williams withdrew from the first vice-president's race, Rudolph Cox did not contest for second vice-president while Conroy Brown and Geraldine Simmonds-Swaby withdrew from the race for general secretary and assistant treasurer/secretary respectively.
Dave Rogers was declared as the new treasurer and Neil Campbell general secretary. Winnington Johnson defeated Sherlock Thorney for second vice-president with less than the required vote, but was later declared in that position after Thorney decided to withdraw from the race.
Boys' Town map attacking strategy for Real Mona

BOYS' TOWN will strive to keep their unbeaten record intact when they journey to Buttercup Park to face Real Mona in JNBS/Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Super League action today, starting at 3:00 p.m.
According to coach Andrew Price, whose Boys' Town team won the first leg match 4-0, they are going to play "attacking football".
Boys' Town ended the first round in fourth position and for this second round, Price says "we want to maintain a winning trend... as the round progresses," to sharpen up for the semi-final round."
He said that points are important and confidently stated that if they are to finish in the top four, "when you play away from home you want to get at least a point. But we are definitely going for three points."
Real Mona's head coach, Peter Moses, said they are more equipped to challenge the Boys' Town team.
"We have a few additional players that have been brought into the squad from the last time we played Boys' Town so we think we are better equipped to challenge them," Moses said. "The fact of the matter is we are playing at our home ground and that should give us an extra push."
Also strengthening Moses' belief is the performance his team gave against Bull Bay at the weekend.
He said: "We did very well against Bull Bay last weekend. They are one of the front runners and we matched them for most of the game and drew 1-1. That was very good for us in terms of lifting the team," he added.
In other matches today, mid-season champions Santos travel to Barbican, Olympic Gardens host Mountain View at Cling Cling Oval, Maverley-Hughen-den take on Bull Bay at Maverley Park and Rockfort tackle JDF at Up Park Camp.
