Boys' Town outclass Real Mona 5-2
published: Wednesday | January 14, 2004

By LeVaughn Flynn, Staff Reporter

A TEN-MAN Real Mona team succumbed to the blows of Boys' Town, losing 5-2 in their KSAFA/JNBS Super League match at Butter Cup Park yesterday.

Boys' Town kept their semi-final dreams alive and are tied in first spot with Maverley/Hughenden on 24 points while Real Mona remained on 11 points in ninth position.

Real Mona's Oneil Pinnock was ejected from the game in the 44th minute for arguing a referee's decision, forcing his team to play the second half with only 10.

At this point, the score was 1-1 with Real Mona's Otis Pinnock opening his team's account in the 41st minute and Boys' Town's Jermaine Bailey equalising three minutes later. But, according to Real Mona's coach Michael Boothe, his team "ran out of steam".

"When you are playing with 10 people against 11 and you get your chances and you don't capitalise, counters catch you and eventually someone is going to run low on energy," Boothe said.

Both teams traded goals again early in the second half, Boys' Town's Michael Campbell (48th) and Real Mona's Kevin Blake (56th), but Real Mona's failure to net their chances proved agonising as their defence later allowed three goals.

George Pringle (71st), substitute Rollin Francis (75th) and Campbell (90th) did what Real Mona could not by capitalising on their chances.

Boys' Town coach Andrew Price said he was disappointed with his team's first half performance but said he was impressed with the turnaround in the second half, particularly the four goals.

"We have to get in the habit of scoring goals and that's the only way you are going to keep a winning trend is to continue scoring," Price said
