WESTERN BUREAU:
THE MOBAY Hope Medical Centre has established a branch in Falmouth, providing easier access to medical care involving ultrasound procedure for residents of Trelawny and sections of St. Ann who previously had to travel into Montego Bay.
The new facility, which opened its door just under a month ago, is fully equipped. It is geared towards handling common health problems such as phlebitis, or inflammation of the veins, which leads to medical conditions such as thrombosis.
"A facility like this is extremely good news for us in this part of the island," said Carmen Simpson, who previously would travel from Falmouth to Montego Bay for medical care.
"In addition to the affordable prices being offered, travelling expenses is no longer a part of the equation."
Dr. Courtney Watson, the medical director at MoBay Hope, said at the opening that the new facility represents a total commitment to quality care.
"MoBay Hope in Falmouth represents a continuation of our vision to make medical care accessible to those in need," said Dr. Watson.
"Coming to Falmouth is our way of taking this type of health care to the people of Trelawny and surrounding areas, who require our services."
Witnessing the opening were Royland Barrett, Custos Rotulo-rum of Trelawny, and honorary board member at MoBay Hope Medical Centre; Dr. Y. Kamara, a consultant at Falmouth Hospital, and Dr. K. Enyi, a medical practitioner in Falmouth.
