Congrats, education awardees
published: Thursday | January 15, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

CONGRATULATIONS ARE in order for Dionne Brown, Ainka Brown, Trudy McLeary, O'Neil Simpson, and Sean Ashley for their outstanding achievements as Gleaner Honour Awardees for Education in 2003.

Their performances are indicative of the enviable standard of academic excellence that can be attained by our people, and for which we should be very proud. The Ministry of Education, Youth & Culture salutes your accomplishments and wants to encourage each of you to strive towards achieving even higher goals in the future.

All of us know that high student achievement is aided in many ways by the work of our academic advisers, who play critical, unique, and often unsung roles in our academic departments and in the lives of students. I wish to congratulate the efforts of the teachers and staff of the institutions that continue to produce these high achievers.

You are not only an example, but an inspiration for those who will follow. As you embark upon different journeys in your lives, I am confident that you will continue to blaze trails and persevere in all of your endeavours.

Wishing you all the best for the future!

I am, etc.,

MAXINE

HENRY-WILSON, M.P.

Minister of Education,

Youth & Culture
